Korda Krank X Hooks
This pattern has been a huge seller since Tom Dove first came up with it back in 2014, and has accounted for countless big fish both at home and abroad, and even some monsters of other species well in excess of 100lb, in Thailand.
The unique shape features a very wide gape, with quite a short, curved shank into a slightly in-turned eye – the in-turned effect is accentuated by the shape of the shank and the way it sweeps round to the eye.
The point, which is slightly beaked, is offset and this shape helps it to ‘Krank’ its way in once it takes an initial hold.
These hooks are very strong, and feature a micro barb which won’t hinder penetration, but once in, will ensure that the hook stays in place.
A barbless version is also available.
The Krank can be used with a wide variety of different rigs and is incredibly effective even with a simple knotless knot, or it can be used on more complicated set-ups, such as the Spinner Rig which Tom Dove favours himself.

TA Curve Shank hooks are ideal for all manner of big fish rig applications.
The pattern is ideal for use with almost any presentation; ranging from the ‘bog standard’ knotless knotted hair and blow back rig, through to KD rigs, Slip-D’s, 360’s and the hugely popular ‘Ronnie’ rig. This is simply an amazingly versatile hook pattern.
Curve Shank hooks have a needle sharp, long tapered, durable point and are manufactured from forged and double tempered super-strong, extra-heavy gauge steel wire that is essential to ensure the reliability in curved shank hook patterns.
This exacting manufacturing process optimizes the strength of the high carbon wire and this means that the hooks offer amazing strength in relation to the wire gauge used in their construction.
The combination of an in-turned eye, curve shank and needle-sharp straight point is naturally an extremely positive hooking design that turns very aggressively.

Korda Wide Gape XX Hooks Micro Barbed
This is a really classic pattern of hook and the Wide Gape has accounted for a huge number of big carp captures over the many years since it was first launched.
It is based on an old classic spade end hook pattern from the 1980s and 1990s which found favour with many anglers at the time – the Maruta Kinryu – but we have improved it and made it more user-friendly by switching the spade for an eye.
The Wide Gape features a slightly in-turned eye, with a short shank, heavily forged bend, and very sharp, beaked point.
It can be used with a wide variety of different pop-up and bottom bait presentations, and once it goes in it tends to stay in.
For those fishing in snaggy conditions in the UK or for overseas fishing there is also a Wide Gape X version.

Since featuring on the Korda Underwater series filmed at Norton Disney, the buzz around these Shot on the Hook weights has been immense and there’s been a massive resurgence around the use of this rig since the film was launched.
The Shot on the Hook improves the hooking potential of any wafter, bottom bait or snowman rig, essentially creating a heavier point to enable the hook to grab hold, ensuring quick and efficient hook holds, turning more pick-ups in to bites.
These hook attachments are created from pure tungsten, which provides an exceptional density-to-volume ratio. This high density, pure tungsten allowed us to achieve substantial weight while using minimal material, creating a compact yet appropriately weighted Shot on the Hook.
This reusable pure tungsten shot can be used over and over. It features a small rubber moulding that fits over the hook point to secure your shot in place. When it's time to switch hooks, simply slide it off if you're using barbless hooks, or if you're using barbed hooks, crush the barb first before removing.

The Shot on the Hook comes in three sizes; 0.30g, 0.40g and 0.50g and are supplied in a convenient slide top storage compartment to keep them safe and secure in your tackle box, with ten shot per packet.
DF's Insight: I would personally recommend the small 0.3g version for hook sizes 8, 6 and 4 with small baits up to 14mm. For slightly bigger baits of around 16-18mm and hook sizes 6, 4 and 2 my choice would the 0.4g Shot on the Hook.
For those anglers using larger hooks and big baits of 20 and 24mm diameter we’ve got the 0.5g version. The idea is that the lighter the bait the less force the carp will use to suck them in. Using the lighter shot will give it more opportunity to get in the fish's mouth.
