Korda Dark Matter Balancing Weights Our new innovative pure tungsten interchangeable DM BALANCING WEIGHTS are an industry first! Created to sit over the barrel of a size 11 swivel, these precisions engineered weights counter balance a buoyant hook bait on your chosen rig. Ideal for use with Chod, Hinge-Stiff and Spinner rigs they offer a neat alternative to putty. Made from pure tungsten, which is much denser than other tungsten filled rubber products, they have an amazing size to weight ratio which helps make the final rig neater. The DM BALANCING WEIGHTS can be used to counterbalance most pop ups / buoyant hook baits, this is particularly helpful when using naked Chod rigs where is it can be tricky to obtain the weight needed to sink the pop up. They are also quickly interchangeable, which makes them perfect when trying to critically balance hook baits. They do not wear and are reusable, meaning they will last forever if not lost. Available in 5 weights (0.30g – 0.50g) with each individual product laser etched with a number to identify the weight i.e. 0.30g is labelled as 30. In addition, a ‘mixed pack’ is available containing 15 weights (3 of each size). With the mixed pack, you can try all of the weights until you find one which is perfect, and then use the same size each time for that particular hook bait. Did you know? Crayfish are attracted to tungsten, and anglers fishing waters with them in will tell you what a nightmare they are when using putty. The DM BALANCING WEIGHTS are the perfect solution to this issue when fishing waters that contain crayfish as they cannot pull them off the rig. TIP: They will fit over ALL Korda size 11 swivels. We have done everything we can to try and control the tolerance of Korda size 11 swivel barrels, BUT sometimes they are a little tight to push on fully by hand. We recommend using a Krimp Tool to carefully bring the balancing weight and swivel together. Please note that they will not necessarily fit on competitor’s size 11 swivels as sizes vary. Tungsten is a very hard material, it has little flex and therefore cannot be easily forced onto oversized barrels. Since featuring on the Korda Underwater series filmed at Norton Disney, the buzz around these Shot on the Hook weights has been immense and there’s been a massive resurgence around the use of this rig since the film was launched. The Shot on the Hook improves the hooking potential of any wafter, bottom bait or snowman rig, essentially creating a heavier point to enable the hook to grab hold, ensuring quick and efficient hook holds, turning more pick-ups in to bites. These hook attachments are created from pure tungsten, which provides an exceptional density-to-volume ratio. This high density, pure tungsten allowed us to achieve substantial weight while using minimal material, creating a compact yet appropriately weighted Shot on the Hook. This reusable pure tungsten shot can be used over and over. It features a small rubber moulding that fits over the hook point to secure your shot in place. When it's time to switch hooks, simply slide it off if you're using barbless hooks, or if you're using barbed hooks, crush the barb first before removing. DF's Insight: I would personally recommend the small 0.3g version for hook sizes 8, 6 and 4 with small baits up to 14mm. For slightly bigger baits of around 16-18mm and hook sizes 6, 4 and 2 my choice would the 0.4g Shot on the Hook. For those anglers using larger hooks and big baits of 20 and 24mm diameter we’ve got the 0.5g version. The idea is that the lighter the bait the less force the carp will use to suck them in. Korda Flying Backlead These are an updated version of our original Safe Zone Flying Back Leads and have been redesigned so that they can be used with either mono or braid. The Flying Back leads are designed so that they come back up your main line during the cast and help to pin as much line as possible to the lake bed. A clever slotted insert allows them to be removed from your line simply by twisting it until it aligns with the slot on the backlead, so it is easy to switch between different sizes as required. This slotted design doesn’t work well with braid though and it can easily get trapped in the slot, so they also come supplied with a special insert specifically for use with braided lines. A small rubber bead is used as a buffer when the Flying Back Lead is sat above your leader knot (assuming that you are using a Dark Matter or Kable leader) prior to the cast. They come in two different sizes – small (3g) or medium (5) – and the weight is etched into each backlead. They have a brown camouflage coating.
