Korda LongChuck Tapered Leaders These shock leaders have been designed specifically for long range fishing to help you achieve maximum distance without the risk of a crack-off, and are perfect when used in conjunction with the Long Chuck main line. There are three different combinations of Long Chuck Tapered Leader, which allows you to match it to the breaking strain of main line that you are using, thus ensuring the neatest joining knot possible and also reducing the risk of ‘frap-ups’ (this usually occurs when different diameter lines are joined and a sudden change to the way it spirals off of the reel through the butt ring). Each leader is 10m long and features 8m of 30lb/0.47mm breaking strain line, to absorb the force of the cast as well as giving some protection when playing a fish due to its abrasion resistance – ideal when fishing over gravel bars – and then the last 2m tapers down from 0.47mm (30lb) to either 0.27mm (10lb), 0.30mm (12lb), or 0.33 mm (15lb) diameter, depending on which of the three versions you choose. The tapered leaders feature the same properties as the Long Chuck main line, with ultra-low stretch to help compress the rod (heavy mono is typically quite stretchy and hampers the cast); low water absorption; lightweight for its breaking strain, as it is clear (dye adds extra weight), so it stays in the air longer; and a high breaking strain to diameter ratio to reduce drag. Korda Big Eye Swivels These swivels have one very large round eye and one normal size one and, as with all our swivels, they come from the best Japanese manufacturers and have our trademark 'anti glint' dull-grey finish. They have three major uses. Firstly, they make very smooth running rigs when used as a replacement to the swivels found on the top of our leads. They were originally designed as part of the Running Rig Kits. But, after too many enquiries to mention, we had to add them to the range. The second obvious use is for helicopter rigs. The large eye will rotate better if a large bead is used, whereas a smaller swivel would bump around the larger beads circumference. In other words, the large eye will slide effortlessly around it. They can also be used at the top of a link for the marker float - the large eye will allow the line to pull through that bit easier than a standard swivel. Korda Spod & Marker Braid Marker Braid Marker Braid is very low diameter and is designed to allow you to cast a marker float, and explore the lake bed, at ranges as far as you can cash with your actual fishing rods. It has zero stretch and so transmits the feel of the lake bed back to your marker rod, and as it is a floating braid, once you do find a spot that helps to ensure that your marker float will pop up when you require it to. It is dark green in colour which helps to make it as unobtrusive as possible when you are feature finding – either with a marker float or leading around. Marker Braid is hard-wearing, which is essential considering how often you cast a marker float and drag it back through weed etc, and it also knots very well. As it is so thin and only 20lb breaking strain, you will need to use a 30lb Arma-Kord shockleader to prevent crack-offs. Each spool contains 300m of braid. This 20lb breaking strain braid has an incredibly low diameter, at just 0.16mm, so will allow a spod or Spomb to be cast as far as you are able to go with your fishing rods, and at shorter ranges allows you to do it with the minimum amount of effort as it casts so well. Spod Braid is also very hard wearing, which is essential given how often it will be cast, and has good knot strength, but it does need to be used with a 30lb Arma-Kord shockleader to prevent crack-offs on the cast – keeping it damp whilst in use will also help to prevent frap-ups around your rod rings. It is a hi-viz fluoro green colour, which not only makes sure that you can easily see where the line is when winding in, but also helps to scare birdlife (including seagulls) away from your swim as the braid travels through the air – especially useful when spodding our floaters.
