Korda Chod Rigs Short The Chod Rig is an extremely effective set-up for fishing over debris on the bottom whilst knowing that your hookbait will always be presented in a way that a carp can still take it, and is a great option for casting to where you’ve seen fish showing, without causing loads of disturbance trying to find a clear spot. Korda Kamakura Choddy Hooks  The Kamakura sharpening process produces a hook point which is every bit as good as a hand-sharpened hook, but without you having to go to all the time and effort involved in doing it yourself.  The Kamakura Choddy hook has been specifically designed for use with stiff hook links and rig presentations such as the chod rig or hinged stiff rig, but it can also be used with other pop-up presentations as well. It has an out-turned eye, to help give a continuous curve from the hook link to the hook when using stiff presentations, and the rest of its shape is based upon the iconic Wide Gape pattern, albeit in a slightly thicker wire. ESP Cryogen Curve Shanx Hooks These Curves are now around 25% stronger than their predecessors while still retaining long fine needle sharp points which are now extra durable. These are highly effective in a whole variety of rig presentations (perfect for the Ronnie Rig) and their quick turning, anti-eject shape combined with a needle sharp point ensures exceptional hook holds. The initial launch of ESP Cryogen hooks in March 2016 caused a massive stir with discerning anglers quickly recognising the distinct technical advantages they offered. They were the result of over three years of development and field testing which culminated in a new standard in strength and point durability. New manufacturing techniques including both high temperature and cryogenic tempering have produced significantly stronger hooks with more durable, long life points. Cryogenic tempering is a process used to improve the molecular structure in steel which in turn reduces stress and improves strength and wear resistance. It is used in many disciplines with Formula 1 engine parts being a classic example. Bench tests on initial samples proved to us that the new tempering processes combined with improved designs and heavy forging resulted in hooks that were 25-30% stronger than other PTFE coated carp hooks in the same wire gauge. We subsequently sent the hooks for independent scientific testing on hardness and tensile strength and the tests carried out confirmed and supported our initial findings. So rather than having to improve strength by simply increasing wire gauge, new manufacturing processes have allowed us to maintain optimum wire gauges for each size which allow for fine, ultra-sharp needle points which are now more durable than ever. ESP is now delighted to introduce three new patterns into the Cryogen range, with each type having been developed, tested and 'tweaked' over the last 18 months. They have proved outstanding in field testing and provide an even greater choice in high-performance, long-lasting carp hooks. Korda Klor Hook The Klor hook pattern was designed and created by Danny Fairbrass to be an aggressive, strong, fast turning hook with brilliant hooking potential with a variety of rigs. It is incredibly strong and proven to be able to withstand fishing for big carp in extreme conditions, both at home and abroad. The Klor has a very aggressive shape (even more so than our Kurv Shank hook), with the point in line with the eye, and this encourages it to turn quickly and take hold in the mouth of a carp. It is suitable for use with all manner of rigs, including the Combi Rig and Spinner Rig presentations, and with bottom baits, pop-ups and wafters. The point is long, ultra-sharp and slightly in-turned which makes it far less likely to be damaged by nuisance species, such as crayfish and small fish, moving it around on the bottom, especially when fishing over gravel. The wire is a heavy gauge, and this results in a very strong hook which can be used in weedy or snaggy conditions, even when using braid, without fear of it bending out. During testing Danny landed carp to over 60lb from wild, French waters that were full of snags.
