ESP Cryogen Curve Shanx Hooks
These Curves are now around 25% stronger than their predecessors while still retaining long fine needle sharp points which are now extra durable.
These are highly effective in a whole variety of rig presentations (perfect for the Ronnie Rig) and their quick turning, anti-eject shape combined with a needle sharp point ensures exceptional hook holds. The initial launch of ESP Cryogen hooks in March 2016 caused a massive stir with discerning anglers quickly recognising the distinct technical advantages they offered.
They were the result of over three years of development and field testing which culminated in a new standard in strength and point durability. New manufacturing techniques including both high temperature and cryogenic tempering have produced significantly stronger hooks with more durable, long life points.
Cryogenic tempering is a process used to improve the molecular structure in steel which in turn reduces stress and improves strength and wear resistance.
It is used in many disciplines with Formula 1 engine parts being a classic example.
Bench tests on initial samples proved to us that the new tempering processes combined with improved designs and heavy forging resulted in hooks that were 25-30% stronger than other PTFE coated carp hooks in the same wire gauge.
We subsequently sent the hooks for independent scientific testing on hardness and tensile strength and the tests carried out confirmed and supported our initial findings.
So rather than having to improve strength by simply increasing wire gauge, new manufacturing processes have allowed us to maintain optimum wire gauges for each size which allow for fine, ultra-sharp needle points which are now more durable than ever.
ESP is now delighted to introduce three new patterns into the Cryogen range, with each type having been developed, tested and 'tweaked' over the last 18 months. They have proved outstanding in field testing and provide an even greater choice in high-performance, long-lasting carp hooks.

Thinking Anglers Curve Point Hooks
The Curve Point hook pattern combines a super sharp curved hook point and in-turned eye and is also finished in our super slippery PTFE coating.
The hook pattern wants to bury itself quickly thanks to the angle of pull naturally created by combining the in-turned eye and super-sharp swept hook point.
This is enhanced by the slick PTFE coating and the point’s long tapered profile.
As soon as the fish is pricked the hook is embedding itself more and more securely, ensuring more pick-ups are translated into fish in the net.
The durable swept point is perfectly suited to fishing over rock hard gravel areas where the critical sharpness of the point could be compromised when feeding carp disrupt the area where the rig is laying.
Forged from a strong heavy gauge wire, the Curve Point is the classic pattern for boilie and particle fishing hard on the deck.
The pattern is truly versatile and has proven to be the perfect pattern to use in combination with the phenomenal Noodle rig.
Key features/specifications:
PTFE Coating for optimum penetration.
Strong double tempered heavy gauge high carbon steel.
Long, tapered swept hook point.
18° in-turned eye.
Gardner Covert Dark Mugga Hooks
The legendary Mugga hook pattern has been pivotal in the capture of countless big carp. The latest Covert Dark Mugga hooks have been given a facelift with several key improvements that make them even better!
Firstly, we have totally re-specified the shape and length of the Mugga’s point so they are longer and much sharper than before. The new long tapered points are a massive step up and ensure the hook pricks and penetrates even quicker.
Next, we have swapped over to the new stripped down Covert Dark plating.
This new finish still offers excellent camouflage thanks to the matt finish, and also ensures that we keep the sharpest possible point on the hook as it is a single electroplated finish and the reduction in handling during the finishing process means the points remain immaculate and razor sharp.
We’ve also upgraded to a micro barb on all the new Covert Dark Hooks. This offers two major benefits.
Firstly, many commercial fisheries require anglers to use patterns with small barbs as it is kinder to the fish’s mouth, and secondly micro barbed hooks are stronger as less wire is cut out to form the barb.
This combined with the longer chemically etched point has made the Covert Dark Mugga a truly awesome hook.
If you look at the design of the Mugga it’s not hard to see why it offers unrivalled hooking potential when used with a variety of hooklink materials.
The aggressive hooking action and strong hook holds that the pattern gives are due to a combination of key features working perfectly together.
The combination of a sweeping, slightly curve shank and a 25° in-turned eye cause the hook to flip as soon as the hooklink tightens or the hook eye reaches the edge of fish’s lip.
This unique action means that the hook will take hold firmly in the corner of the mouth or in the bottom lip without having to add shrink tube to improve a less effective ‘similar’ pattern.
After this the orientation between the hook eye and the super sharp straight point creates the best possible angle to aid the hook penetrating quickly and securely. Simply, this means you will land more fish.
Covert Dark Mugga hooks are constructed using a forged, high carbon wire that has been double tempered to ensure they are amazingly strong relative to the wire gauge.*Heavier gauge ‘Continental Mugga’ hooks are available for anglers that need the strongest possible Mugga hooks.

Fox Edges Arma Point Zig & Floater Hook
It had to happen! Our Edges range of terminal tackle has taken the carping world by storm over the past three years with anglers across the globe appreciating that we had taken rig component design to a whole new level.
There was of course one item of terminal tackle that our product development team hadn’t given the Edges treatment too, and that quite simply is because it has taken them many years to design, develop and test this range.
We haven’t simply picked up a hook manufacturers catalogue and picked a few patterns off the shelf, oh no, we have drawn up the patterns from scratch using the latest CAD software packages to ensure that every single detail in every single pattern is exactly how they need to be for the modern carp angler.
Every eye, point and shank on every pattern has been designed to our specifications to ensure that they perform exactly how the modern angler needs them to.
The end result is an Edges Arma Point hook range that features eight patterns, and that are in our opinion and that of our angling consultants, the strongest and sharpest out of the packet hooks you will find on the market.
Designed specifically for use on Zig and surface rigs
Also suited to bottom bait stiff rig presentations

Drennan Super Specialist Barbel Hooks
The Specialist Barbel hook is a tried and tested hook pattern that has quickly gained cult status amongst big fish anglers.
The extra long point of the Specialist Barbel hook is immensely sharp, giving instant penetration on the take.
This makes it virtually impossible for the fish to eject the hook once in its mouth.
There are two noticeable features that make this hook stand out from the crowd.
Firstly you have a Teflon coating with a non-reflective, dull charcoal-grey colouration that blends into its surroundings far better than a standard hook.
By using Teflon coated hooks you will dramatically reducing sun glare when fishing in shallow or exceptionally clear water.
This is especially useful in bright conditions.
The second and most beneficial feature of the hook is the slightly in-turned eye.
This has been very neatly finished off to eliminate any chance of your hooklength breaking from eye abrasion when the fish is in full charge.
The in-turned angle also makes the hook ideal for use with a Knotless Knot.
This makes the hook ideal for both hair-rigged baits as well as conventionally hooked baits.
This excellent hook also has a short to medium length shank with a circular curve, whisker barb and elongated point.
Although it was initially designed for barbel, the Specialist Barbel has now found favour with anglers targeting other hard-fighting species such as tench, carp and chub.

ESP Cryogen Chod Hammer Hooks
The Chod-Hammers incorporate some of the best key features of their bigger brother, the highly effective Trig-Hammer; crucially we have mirrored the point profile of the Trig’s across all the sizes, so the long fine needle points are incredibly sharp.
The twin tempering process also means that although the points are very fine, they are also tough and durable. We have also mirrored the bend of the Trig to create a very strong shape.
The heavy forging and correct tempering gives the Chod-Hammers the correct degree of spring making them highly unlikely to open or snap.
The medium length shank terminates in a subtly out-turned eye, perfect for tying the knotless knot with stiff hook link materials such as bristle filament.
On this range we have increased the eye diameter slightly so that the larger sizes can accommodate 25lb bristle filament three times through the eye.
Wire gauges on the Chod-Hammers have been kept the same as their forerunner the Cryogen Stiff Rigger And with the sizes being very similar it means you can use the same pop-ups in relation to the hook size.
These new hooks have past the testing process with flying colours, consistently achieving excellent hook holds and none of the guys that have tested them have felt the need to sharpen the points as they are needle sharp straight from the packet.Features:
Cryogenically tempered
Durable ultra sharp needle points
Tufflon coated
Micro-barb and barbless
