Baitbox Pike Baits Joey Mackerel
Mackerel are one of the most effective pike baits around, with a great set of features that make them brilliant baits.
With a relatively tough skin, mackerel are easy to hook and stay on cast after cast.
They also have an iridescent sheen when really fresh, which makes them stand out well on the bottom.

Baitbox Pike Baits Lamprey Sections
Although still relatively new to the pike bait scene, lamprey have made a huge impact over the last few years and have accounted for a lot of fish.
Lamprey are not just a pike bait either, some big zander and catfish have also fallen to this bait.
Lamprey are members of some of the extremely primitive jaw-less fishes, that feed by sucking the blood from other fish.
They contain a very large amount of blood that simply oozes out of a cut bait!

Baitbox Pike Baits Perch
For some reason perch do not figure that highly on many anglers bait lists, but no body ever told the predators that, and this natural bait that is found in just about every venue makes up a large percentage of the diet of both pike and zander.
Perch have a very tough skin that makes them very long-lasting and great value for money.
This makes them ideal for trotting, long casting and other tactics that are generally hard on more delicate baits.
One of our favourite tactics is to suspend a perch one to two feet off the lake bed on a float paternoster rig.
This approach has accounted for some very big pike and zander for us.

Baitbox Pike Baits Smelt
The undisputed king of deadbaits
Amongst the most popular of all deadbaits, smelt have all of the key features that we look for in a pike bait and are a must-have for the modern pike angler.
These small brackish water fish are the perfect size for pike and zander baits, and are normally available in several sizes ideal for a wide range of different tactics.
The tough skin of the smelt means that they are easy to hook and stay on well, even when fishing at long range.
The body is cylindrical, and they are a dense bait packed with muscle. Smelt have accounted for a huge number of big pike for us and our customers, and it is rare that we do not have this bait on one of our rods.
Smelt have a unique cucumber-like smell, but we think it is the bright white colour which really makes them stand out to any passing pike.
Especially when contrasted with the lake or river bed smelt really stand out and cannot be missed. At times a more subtle colour can be required, so we also sell large smelt in both red and gold colours.
Being a tough bait, smelt can be used under a float for trotting baits on rivers, or even for fishing sink-and-draw style. They really are a very versatile bait and account for huge numbers of pike each year.
Our large smelt are also available in fantastic red or golden dyed options too for a really distinctive deadbait.

Baitbox Pike Baits Trout
Trout will need little introduction to most predator anglers. We source all of our trout from the highest quality fish farms, where the quality of the fish is second to none. At various times we have rainbow, golden and brown trout in stock.
Trout have quite a tough and dense body, making them ideal for long range fishing and repeated casting. This makes them ideal for trotting baits in rivers and for fishing sink and draw style, as well as ledgering and float fishing in stillwaters.
Trout are also one of our favourite baits to use under a drifter float, because there bold outline makes them very visible to any pike laying up underneath, and their tough skin means they take repeated retrieves from long range better than most baits.
